The founder of Apple, Steve Jobs, had a vision of creating a computer that could fit into a pocket, could be easily carried out and would take less time to operate. He transformed this dream into a device that was named as iPad.
The first ever iPad was released on April 3, 2010. Such was the impact on consumers that 300,000 units were sold on the first day itself. As time passed on, Apple released newer versions of this magic device with better and improved capabilities.
The latest to be added to this line of succession is Apple iPad 4. It was announced on October 23, 2012 as the fourth generation of the iPad line, succeeding the third generation iPad, and was released on November 2, 2012. Within seven months of release of iPad 3, Apple got into full-fledged action and came up with the brand new version of their highly successful notebook series. It is the constant up gradation system that keeps the users hooked to the iPads, because they know that something better and bigger is coming out for them and more so over, who doesn’t want the power and functionalities of a PC but all in a much smaller version.
Specifications
• Network
The latest iPad supports all types of network, be it 2G, 3G, 4G and Micro-SIM as well. Apart from these Wi-Fi is the major connectivity option, as was in the previous version.
• Dimensions
At 9.7 inches, the display is same as that of its predecessor with capacitive touchscreen and 16M colors. The pixel resolution also remains unchanged at 1536×2048. The weight is also same as iPad 3, that is, 662 g.
• Processor
The major change in Apple iPad 4 is in its processor chip. The Operating System is iOS 6 with Apple A6X chipset. The new A6X chip inside iPad is up to twice as fast as the previous-generation A5X chip, thus providing faster and smoother access to the applications without affecting the battery-life.
• Memory
With no change in the storage system, iPad 4 still comes with internal memory only, with a variant of 16/32/64 GB and 1GB RAM. It still doesn’t support external card slots.
• Camera
iPad4 still has 5MP camera, but thanks to the retina display with 3.1 million pixels, everything looks clearer and brighter now.
• Battery
This version can withstand 10 hours of constant audio and video usage at a go, without charging in between, which is not highly impressible compared to the tablet-phone from arch rival Samsung.
• Pricing
Coming at a hefty base price of $499, Apple’s iPad 4 is a bit costly as compared to the features that aren’t too different from the earlier versions. The price range varies as per the storage capacity.
