Nokia Lumia 620: An Inside View




Nokia announced the release of its latest Windows 8 powered smartphone Lumia 620 in the first week of December. Nokia 620 comes at an affordable price tag with a strong set of specifications that is mainly targeted for the developing nations. The main competitor for Lumia 620 would be HTC, the only mobile manufacturer with Windows Phone 8 OS but given the high price tag of HTC, Lumia 620 will surely get the advantage.  





Features and specifications

·         Display & Design
The latest Lumia family member has a 3.8 inches ClearBlack TFT capacitive touchscreen that hosts an 800 x 480p image resolution. It is equipped with Adreno 305 GPU that enhances the display for 3D views without affecting the processor.
Coming to the design, Lumia 620 is more rounded at the corners and comes in 7 different colors. The back cover is changeable so that you can dress up your smartphone as per your wish.

·         Hardware Configuration
Along with the Windows Phone 8 OS, Lumia 620 has 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor and 512MB of RAM that would give a steady performance to the users.

·         Camera
Lumia 620 has a 5MP rear-mounted camera with autofocus capabilities and an integrated LED flash. Apart from this, Lumia 620 also boasts of a secondary VGA camera in the front that is missing from HTC 8S. The camera features LED flash, geo-tagging and 720p@30fps video recording.

·         Storage
Along with the 512MB RAM Lumia 620 has 8GB built-in storage capacity and an expansion slot upto 64GB whereas HTC 8S just gives 4GB internal storage to its users. Also you have 7 GB free cloud storage in Microsoft's SkyDrive.

·         Connectivity
Lumia 620 supports 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPRS and also NFC that is missing from HTC 8S, thus giving one more plus point to Nokia.

·         Battery
This model has a standard Li-Ion 1300 mAh (BL-4J) battery that keeps a talk time up to 14 hours and standby up to 330 hours. Though the battery has good ratings on paper, but only after properly testing a retail unit will we know if it's any good in real life.


·         Additional Features
Some other useful features include built-in accelerometer, multi-touch input, proximity sensor and free lifetime voice-guided navigation. 

Final verdict
Nokia Lumia 620 is going to be released in January 2013 in Asia, followed by Europe and Middle East and then further. Priced at a reasonable amount of around $249 and with the above mentioned features, Lumia 620 is sure to be in high-demand and will help Nokia in expanding its smartphone market.
