HTC One VX Review

Introduction

At MobileCon 2012 HTC announced its latest smartphone, the HTC One VX. This smartphone is designed and developed with most of the specifications resembling HTC One X+. The One VX model is a mid-range, affordable phone with decent specifications that is build keeping in mind the people who don’t require high-end smartphones.

Features & Specifications

• Hardware
The HTC One VX is loaded with a dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus processor coupled with 1GB of DDR3 RAM that gives a full-packed performance at a marginal price.

• Design and Display
The HTC One VX weights exactly 124.7g, which is slightly less than the 129g HTC One X+. This device has got a plastic covering and its dimensions are 133.5 x 67.6 x 9.2 mm. The screen is 4.5 inches comes with a Super LCD-2 display that has a lower resolution at 245 ppi and gives a pleasant experience nonetheless.

• Camera
For capturing photos One VX has a primary 5MP camera at the backside, capable of shooting videos at 1080p and has features such as Simultaneous video and image recording, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, image stabilization, HDR. The secondary front-facing camera is a 0.5MP VGA camera and is suitable for video chatting.

• Operating System
This handset comes loaded with Android 4.0: Ice Cream Sandwich and HTC's own Sense 4 UI running on it. In terms of technology it’s not anything new given the fact that One X+ comes with the latest version of Android: Jelly Bean, but an upgrade is soon coming.

• Network and Connectivity
The VX model supports all types of networks- 2G, 3G, 4G and also mini-SIM. Being a GSM phone, it is enabled to work on the majority of GSM networks around the world. Coming to connectivity- Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP, Wi-Fi 802.11, GPRS, EDGE and NFC are supported. Thus one can take advantage of all the connectivity features of any high-end smartphone at a much reduced price.

• Memory
Apart from the 1GB RAM, HTC’s VX model comes loaded with 8GB of internal storage and also supports microSD slot to expand this storage up to 32 GB.

• Multimedia
Having the same old Sense music player as before, there is nothing particularly amazing or endearing about the multimedia interface of this device. The Beats Audio support gives an amplified boost to the audio, thus giving a wonderful media player functioning to the users.

• Battery
One VX’s Standard battery, Li-Ion 1800 mAh is not a huge one to boast about, but it is steady enough to withstand charge for one complete day. Thus the user would be required to charge the battery as much as possible in order to keep the device going on. The best thing about this battery is that it is replaceable by the user. So, one doesn’t need to worry about losing out on battery life.

Conclusion
The HTC One VX is a great handset when compared to other entry-level smartphones in the same budget. It has a nice design and good large-size display. With the powerful hardware specifications, this phone is surely a value for money object. For people who have a budget of up to $50 only, this would be one of the top choices.
The only problem here is the underwhelming camera performance and the lack of a ‘premium feel’ that the high-end devices are known for delivering.
